“James Logan a Christian ethicist talks about how we have a retributive model now, we used to rehabilitate people, we used to even use the language of corrections, but now its a retributive model of justice. Its dehumanizing.

If we recognize that crime happens in the context of broken relationships, were not healing the brokenness that contributed to the crime in the first place, we are only accentuating that woundedness.

The thing thats tragic about it is that its making money on these spaces in our cities that have been deprived of opportunity, or where access to opportunities are so limited. Its also creating an economy in rural areas where there has also been lack of attention to development. It links vulnerable populations in a way thats hurtful to both economies.”
